I am not ready for summer to go. You know why? Every year I have the feeling that I don’t appreciate it enough, don’t eat enough ice cream and don’t spend enough time swimming and just enjoying the sun. It’s the same every year, and although my favourite season is just arriving (I luuuuv autumn) I feel like this was over just too quickly again. Do you feel the same?
There are in fact a few things I wanted to do this summer but haven’t been able to, like going to the drive-in cinema which I’ve been wanting to do for ages now, or getting a lounger for my garden and relax in the sun. I did upgrade that desolate balcony of mine and made a tiny oasis with flowers and a table, and we did get a barbecue (and even used it!). But still, there are always some things that come to your mind when it’s too late, like those birthday wishes which seem to vanish from your head right before said date. Well, I do have my 10 days in Greek still ahead of me (yay!) so I’m still doing some summer projects. This is one of my favourites:
- Cotton strap in 5 different colours
- Small leather purse
- Rivet plier
- Some glue
Start by punching a hole in the middle bottom of your bag lid to make sure the rest of the holes are symmetric to each other. Place a golden rivet in the hole and fix it with the rivet plier.
Continue from there – punch holes on each side of the starting hole and apply a rivet to each hole. You should have about 18-20 holes in the end.
Now take your cotton strap and measure a piece of about 30 cm (or whichever length you want). Repeat that until you have 8 pieces of strap of each colour. Make a knot on the end of each strap and seal it with a drop of glue (so it won’t untangle).
Thread two straps of the same colour through each hole, with the knot on the inside. Do the same with the next hole, then proceed with the next colour and so on. Repeat this pattern one more time. If you want to, close the straps with another knot on the other end. That’s it!
That is definitely a colourful take on the fringe bag trend that was going on this summer, and it is definitely an eye catcher for hot summer nights. Guess I will be taking this to Greece for my upcoming trip, it’s such a perfect bag for a night out! Hope you are inspired!
